      Have a line on a 5.3

Sorry, not a lot of details available, but I have in mind a 5.3 for my '57 Chevy and have a line on one for $100. I don't think I can go too far wrong for that, can I? Owner bought a Chevy PU with over 100,000mi and changed out the motor because he heard a little piston slap on cold start. His new engine has the same sound and he wishes he hadn't spent the money. I'm not sure about the pan but the truck intake comes with it. Seems to me that even if it needs a full rebuild I can't beat that price for a core. If I start without the efi and other electronics will that piece eat me alive? Junkyard pull outs that I could grab with full wiring harness and all the peripherals intact seem to be scarce around here. I was told "those go REALLY fast when they come in."

Cars are meant to be driven.
