For Sale or Not for sale?

OK so Ive noticed lately that this for sale section is being used as a FEELER thread or a lets see whos interested thread.... So am I the only one that feels like you should either list it FOR SALE or dont list it at all?? Maybe Larry could put in a FEELER thread for posts like this? Maybe we can call it FISHING? I dont know? Any thoughts?

i couldn't agree with you more. on other sites there were parts or even entire cars that had "just feeling" B.S. but when i offered them exactly what they asked for they wouldn't take it. either sell it or don't.

stop wasting everyone time if you aren't sure if your ready to get rid of something.

There's nothing wrong with those threads as long as they're in "The Marketplace" sub-forum, not the "For Sale" sub-forum. They serve a perfectly legitimate function.

I must admit that I don't pay as much attention to the For Sale forums as Derek and JP do. Please let us know if there are "Feeler" threads in "For Sale. They should be in "Marketplace".

doesn't seem inappropriate to me. It's not as though people put "feeler" ads on here often. 1st one I've seen ever.....so who cares? I kind of thought that was a good idea.

I have no problem with feeler threads. If the forum wants to put that in a separate sub-section, fine. Just don't disallow them altogether though. There really have not been an overwhelmingly large number of them anyway from my view.

What's wrong with that? Not everyone posts in the thread - many just PM directly and it is all timestamped so what's the issue? That's up to the seller to manage, and if he doesn't want to sell you or someone else (not sure why this would happen) then I guess that's his prerogative.

I'm sure part of this thread was as a result of my 'feeler' thread that I posted. I'm not trying to upset anyone. Maybe I should have put it in the market place section, but I've seen other feeler threads here and thought it would be okay. Yes I agree that stuff should not be posted unless you actually plan on selling it. In my case though, the item I was thinking about selling was installed in my car and would have to be cut out. I wasn't planning on cutting it out unless I knew there would be some interest in it. I've requested the mods remove the thread as I have decided it would make too much of a mess to remove it and there has not been anyone wanting it for their nova. In this case, I'm glad I put the feeler thread first cause now I know it would be harder to move than I thought.

^^ I like feeler threads just as I do regular for sale threads. I see them all over other forums I frequent and no one has a problem there. If you handle it appropriately of course.

I don't see what the big issue is. There's hundreds of posts on here every day.... is it really hard to ignore a feeler thread or 2 if you are not a fan?

I don't think it was your specific thread. They really belong in the "Marketplace" forum. If placed in the normal "For Sale" it crowds legitimately for sale items off the 1st page and makes it that much harder to find something.

Not a HUGE issue by any means, more a matter of etiquette toward people who are actually trying to sell an item.

Yea I guess that was my point... Nothing wrong with putting feeler thread out there but just think they should be in the MARKETPLACE instead of the FOR SALE section... The problem is I think alot of people put them in the FOR SALE section because it will get alot more views than in the Marketplace section... In that case I think it is wrong.. I guess you can say that it is only one or two of them but sooner or later everyone will be putting their feeler threads in the forsale section for that same reason and that would frustrate people looking for items as well as people selling their items too!

So with the train of thought going on here, shouldn't this post be moved to the appropriate section? From what I can tell you aren't selling anything.

Sorry I am late to this thread. I have been gone alot this month and just missed it. As a mod in the ads section, I do move alot of feeler ads to the marketplace. That is why it was created. If you see a feeler in the for sale, pm me and I will move it, no problem. For Sale is just that, for sale, and require price.
