      suggestions on tranny choice

This is a my personal project and any input on trannies would be wonderful. The setup is as follows: A 53 buick special 4 door with a cummings 12v diesel froma 93 to 98 donor. Engine mods include sequential turbos head porting, head stud conversion, and larger injectors and pump mods. At the end of the day I am shooting for 650 to 700 rwhp. Although this isn't obscene amounts of power these days, the torque figures very much are being in the 1200ft/lb range or better. I would like to go with an automatic, but am concerned with even the best of them considering all this power is coming on at less then 3000rpm. The frontrunners in my mind are a th400 or dodge's 47rh. Is anyone aware of a transmission from a heavy duty truck or bus application that may work here?

If your thinking GM then a built up 4L80E OR one of the small Allisons like GM uses behind Duramax maybe?
Give Bowler transmissions a call if they cant fix you up or point you in proper direction you wont find anything.

For that kind of power, Lee's right, 4L80e or Allison. Also, another thumbs-up for Bowler, they do really good work (they built a TH400 for me a while back)
