Any Vegas guys know about Chic's Corvettes?

A good friend of mine bought a vette from Chic's Corvettes in Vegas. Saw it on their website and after phone conversations with them being assured it would arrive exactly as represented, and if he wasn't happy with it he would take it back and refund his money, he made the deal over the phone and had it shipped to central Iowa. Car that showed up is a cobbled up mess. This car was totally misrepresented! He's been fighting for almost a year trying to get something done. Iowa lawyers have no jurisdiction in Vegas. He has talked to a couple lawyers in Vegas who want a large retainer to even look at the case.

Anyone know anything about the laws pertaining to this in Nevada? Anybody personally know a trustworthy lawyer he could get ahold of in Vegas? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!

Since he sent the money out of state and that becomes interstate commerce, if the car was grossly misrepresented and he can document that, it should be possible for an IA lawyer to handle and go after it as mail fraud.
If he did the purchase by wire transfer, then it is wire fraud and is covered under 18 U.S.C. § 1343 (United States code)

Thanks for the response DynoDon. Yes he did pay by wire transfer. He has record of all their correspondence before the purchase. What's really interesting is that Chic's Corvette's still has the same car my friend bought listed for sale on their website under a different name. There's no doubt the pictures of "Yolonda" are the same car that is sitting in my friend's garage in Iowa.

He has talked to a couple lawyers in Vegas who said it would take $2500 or $3500 to get started, and probably cost alot more than that. After getting screwed on the car purchase, he's very hesitant to send someone he doesn't know a sizeable sum of money. I'd love to get the name of someone local to Vegas who is reputable and willing and able to handle this for him.

WOW, it would seem if they are showing the same car listed for sale as something different that would strengthen his "misrepresentation" claim that is paramount to the Wire Fraud action. I would contact the Las Vegas Attorney General if I were him.
