Sorry to hear Bill.. but this will be a good excuse to add a few more HP to the mix. Did your oil pressure look ok on the Pahrump track? Turn 1 and turn 2 are really hard on oiling systems.

Good seeing you at the event

Hey now...why all the long faces? What happened to our friend Bill here is a beautiful thing man. This is what it's all about folks; drive it till you break it. Bill didn't suffer a misfortune here, he just lived the dream; built a great car, drove it across the country with good friends, beat the crap out of it at a major event, and all the while had the time of his life. That busted Mopar is a medal of honor to all us gear-heads who dream of finishing their cars.

Hell man.....I'd LOVE to have Bill's problem right now. LOL!!!

I couldn't agree more! But, having been in the same boat earlier in the year, I certainly see the dollar signs associated with it and that's never fun. But, a couple years from now when all the bills have been paid it will just be a great memory. Well, at least until the next catastrophic failure....

Come on Bill, we're all sitting on the edge of our seats waiting to hear what the diagnosis is. Have you been too busy swinging a hammer to dig into it?

When we were on our warm up laps on the track I thought we were going to go "slow" around the track to get to know it. After a very short distance I looked in my rear view mirror and Bill was right on my ass and not going away. Not seeing the guy in front of me I started pushing harder. Bill still didn't go away. I think I finally found a speed (fast) that Bill liked as he wasn't on my ass any more. Thanks for the introduction Bill. Your car was fast enough. Now you are making faster!? Oh no.

I have to say it took me a few days to realize " I lived the dream" when I took out the stock car engine at Road America.

Everytime you go to a track and drive ALL the way home you are a winner!!!

The Charger is going to be an even bigger animal when it back and running.

Goodluck with the new engine Bill.

I blew up my stuff at the Faceoff at Road America in May. It wasn't back together until RTTH in September (it had all of 15 miles on the new engine when we left for Tennessee). I lost all summer getting the new bullet together.

The only benefit is that this happened at the end of the summer season, and Bill will have all winter to get this back together.

The late-model Hemi is and was a good call for this car. Figure out what the previous engine lacked (for me it was a near-stock oil pan that didn't like long, hard corners at speed) and upgrade there (I got a trick Canton pan with trap doors now). Sure, you could add more power, but I am happy having back pretty much what I had before. I've got plenty to learn (about suspension adjustments and driving) before I can use every single pony I've got underhood...but I had/have a pretty solid powerplant too.

Only Bill knows what Bill wants, but having a late-model Hemi in the early Charger was about as cool as it gets.

I can't wait to see you and the Charger again Bill! It seems I'm always having a good time whenever I do.

Great times follow Howell around like stink to a skunk.

Well, while I was in Daytona, Mark was working hard to get the motor out and torn down. Turns out a broken spring was the culprit. Of course, that meant dropped valve, retainer found in intake, one piston, one rod, serious head damage on the one cylinder, and the list grows. Could have been worse, looks like the block is ok, should hone out, may go 10 over on the pistons anyway. Once we determine all the damage and get parts ordered, I will repost.

Full on forged pistons rated for some boost is what I'd recommend!!!! Bring on the power! I say build it to survive while its down.
Glad to hear the whole motor was not shrapnel. Now I worry about my stock 6.1L LOL.

3G Hemis have great potential as you know. We just need more support and experience than the LS types!

Tell mark to either get rid of that intake whoosh noise while it's torn down, or back it up with some forced induction!

At least Mr Howell won't be stranded on the island too long this time...unfortunately he's stuck with me and Yancy..no Ginger or MaryAnn. SS Howell looks odd with an empty engine bay..it has been grounded but not sunk...He sold the rollback so I guess we will see the old boat up and running soon.
