      Aeromotive A1000

I just put a A1000 pump on my car. I just sumped my oringinal tank and was pretty sure I cleaned the tank out. My bg filter is on the back side pump. Do I need one between the tank and the pump? The pump seems to be pumping fine and every so often it will make a noise. I am scared trash has got in it. Do I need to take it off and clean it if so what do I need to use and how do i go about cleaning it? Also do you think a little trash messed the pump up. If so how do you rebuild these. The pump was pumping fine i turned it off because the noise. Do i need a filet on both sides of the pump? Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

YES. You should have a less restrictive filter before the pump and a finer filter after the pump before the FI or carb. You can just run a good filter before the pump. Aeromotive tech line can tell you exactly which micron rating is required. That should also be in the instruction manual.
Take the pump apart and look at it. If nothing is in it, then disconnect the fuel line in the engine compartment. Blow the line out from front to rear. If nothing comes out y, you should be fine.
To rebuild the pump, Aeromotive has rebuild kits. Again if nothing comes out of the line, maybe the pump was bad from the start. Contact Aeromotive and talk to them. They might just send you a rebuild kit. Cost is nothing for them.

I agree... I use a 10 micron and a 100 micron filter. one on each side.

I just took the pump apart and it looks like the magnets inside the pump are breaking or something. What causes this?

Are you running a return line? If you don't the fuel will stay in the pump and overheat. Also I think Aeromotive did have a problem with the epoxy on the magnets coming apart.

I am running -10 return. Also it was an older pump they said and the epoxy had broken loose. I got my money back from my friend and purchased a new one with the correct filters. Brett at Aeromotive was a big help and I would recommend them to anyone.
