I know I totally re worked a couple cars out of the shop, they were horrendous! I have another on the way this week sometime. He was lucky and called me, I asked where it was, he told me, I told him to get it out now. He got it out 3 weeks ago, lucky for him.

This happened to me, twice

First when I bought the car, the p/o had contracted with a local bodyshop to do the metal work. After 3 months, I got an inkling that the guy was telling stories. I travelled 350 miles to find that the guy was lying. The p/o paid for a car trailer and I loaded the car up. That bodyshop paid me back 1000$ in installments.

Next place took months, started taking on more and more work. I basically told the guy my contract was up, and I was coming to get the car. He rushed the completion. Bondoed up a bunch of bad welding. Messed up the front fenders, a lot of sheet metal.

Bottom line, is I would have been better doing it all myself. I would have paid for a good TIG and MIG and compressor, and been thousands of $ ahead.

A couple notes; The second bodyshop got pissed at me from badmouthing him on the internet. But the idiot even posted on his own page about cops coming to take one car from him, and not getting paid.... hmmm

This is the type of crap the really pisses me off. You should never take in more jobs than you can handle. But on the other hand as a customer you should be checking on your car constantly. When I had my shop I made sure the customers new everything we were doing or had done. if they couldn't get to the shop to see the progress I was also posting pictures on my Fotki album and e-mailing them the link. Our main downfall was being a new shop in a crashing economy and not enough advertising. Here is a link to the pics of the 240 Z we were working on.
