Headlights Dead

I've installed the painless wiring harness and starter and now i'm up and running. i had a weird knock sound from my engine and pulled the mechanical fan and that was it. anyways the headlights don't work! i connected everything and turned them on, testing the connectors and no voltage is showing up. is it my switch? the taillights work. so do the gauge lighting and dimming switch. what else could it be? i've grounded the headlights real good, and checked the fuses. the wiring is new too, which was preconnected so the wires shouldn't be on wrong on the switch. help!
