      new 75 trans am project

Picked this up a few weeks ago. Zero rust, pretty much original everything. Disc brake rear from 79 t/a with 3.08 posi, 400 auto car with headers and dual exhaust. Has been sitting in a barn since 2000 and the engine looked really clean along with the interior. Started, ran but really rough. So I've been playing around with it and found a bad timing chain was the reason for it running bad. Just got the engine back together and got it started and now the starter went tits up before I got a chance to time it in. Oh well.

Cool project! Did you get a center section for the front spoiler with it?

no, I need to buy the whole front spoiler and the filler that goes above the bumper. Just gonna get it running for now and then next spring will start paint and body. Gonna be a bmw silver with the blue and black decal kit. I also have a built 455 and trmec 5 speed that I'll be dropping in.

Nice to see another Second Gen getting resurrected. Looks like a solid straight body to start with. Nice project!

Keep your eyes open for the front end parts over the winter. The lower section can be tough to locate. I had 75 a few years ago. A TAC member owns it now. Sounds like yours will be nice with the paint/stickers and engine/trans plans.

Nice find. I have a 74 and I really like the front valence of these cars and it should be fun to see what you come up with. I am still gathering parts for mine.

Mine too, I already know I am going to get two questions with this particular year model.
      1. Are you gonna put the bird on the hood?
      2. Why do you have Firebird emblems on a Camaro?

I'm of course going to put the bird on the hood and I'm pretty much just gonna give it more power and the 5 speed, do a simple brake upgrade for now, and different seats and a paint job and then drive the crap out of it. The 455 thats going in it had my 73 formula to the mid 11's at the track on street tires before I took it apart so this should go pretty good. As far as suspension its just getting the hotchkis springs and sway bars and then the globalwest del-a-lum bushings all around and some edelbrock ias shocks I have sitting around. I prefer the early 70-73 formula's the best but theres something I just love about the 74-75 t/a's look.

That is pretty much my set up and plan except I have Konis ,Rancho bars and don't have a bird. I think you are going to be pretty happy with that. I would add some subframe connectors, solid body bushings and maybe G-braces.

Sounds like an awesome build! With the big block and the Hotchkis suspension you have planned, that car should be pretty impressive no matter what kind of driving you are doing.
