Valve Springs Bigger To Smaller ?

Got a set of Trick Flow Heads with the dual 1.46 springs. Bought a COMP CAM XE 268H-10 CAM. When I bought the cam they suggested running the matching springs but when I went to take off the TRICKFLOW springs I noticed that the diameter of the springs were larger than the ones I was about to put on. Is this a problem? I know if it were smaller I would have to machine the seats to make larger ones fit, but what if the ones on there are larger than the ones I want to put on?

Also, has anyone run these dual 1.46 springs with the XE 268 CAM? If I can stick with the springs on the heads I would rather do that than swap them out. If the spring pressure is too great for this cam, would removing the inner spring help? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

      Thanks

Hey Mark. Comp will sell you a set of spring seats to make up the difference in diameters. They will be the same as the seats that are in it now, with the exception of having a thicker wall to correctly locate the spring.

No question, spend the extra dough and buy the Comp springs. It's cheap insurance that everything will work together.

Have you measured the seat & open pressures to see how close they are to the comp spring? Comp probably knows what springs came on there, as they supply many of the aftermarket head manufacturers.

      1.430-1.46

Contacted Comp cams and they recommended that I go with a different spring than what they originally sold me. Seems the first tech guy I talked to didnt realize that I was using 1.6 ratio rockers instead of 1.5. They are sending me a different set of springs. Only thing is that the springs they are sending me are 1.430 instead of my 1.46 This tech said that the difference is only .015 which should not be a problem when in the seat that is already on the head. What do you guys think? Will this be a problem?

Other than the standard geometery checks, I'd say no more issues.
