GTO seats in a 1st Gen question

I've searched , and searched...but has anyone managed to use the late model GTO seats in a 1st Gen Camaro WITHOUT LOSING the power mechanisms? I've seen a few who have lowered them and lost the power function. I would love to try and get the power to work but not add the height to the seats at the base. Any help would be much appreciated.
Has anyone ever cut into the seat floor bracket ( and reinforce the floor ) to get the seats lower? I want to make these fit - and will do what it takes , I will go without power if I have to- but will try my best to keep it . Thanks in advance .

I have a set of GTO seats that I'm putting into my 68 Acadian (Nova). I also wanted to keep the power option so I cut off the stock mounts and welded some new ones right to the stock base. I then welded some bolts onto the floor of the car where I needed them. Here's a few pics of what I did. I have more in my build thread if you want to see them.

They sit pretty high in this pick, but once I got the power hooked up, they dropped right down. This was in the highest setting.

Unfortunately I don't have any pics in the dropped position. If I had to guess though....they probably dropped at least 2-3 inches.

Where did you pick up the seats? are you using the rear seats as well? I'm interested in using these in my 70 Chevelle build.
