u joint and rear axle help
I need a u-joint part number. I've got a 68 firebird axle going into a 1310 yoke. The big ends have to be around 3.5" across and the little ones about 3". Big Gear Head, I'm guessing you know what I'm looking for.
While I'm at it, when I put the wrong one in, I barely got the axle up into place. I was told the rear was out of a 73 nova which would have made the nose the same length as the 8.2 that came out of it but it has a nose on it with 1235542 N and either 19gm or 79gm on it. Did I end up with a 2nd gen f body rear? Should I shorten the drive shaft a bit?

09-25-2010 #2The '73 Nova rear end will be the 8.5 10 bolt, which usually requires shortening the drive shaft about 1 inch. The 8.5 from the Nova is the same as the 8.5 from the second gen Camaro except for the over all width and the loacaion of the spring perches.
