Just Laid Down Some Mass Load Vinyl

My VA condenser was leaking, so I had to pull the carpet again. The seat were already out as I needed to make new mounts to angle them higher in the front, so I figured it was a good time to finish the sound deadening process. I have been looking at MLV products for some time, but could not justify the price that most vendors are charging.

As I had some closed cell foam left over from the door panel project, I started looking for a roll of MLV. This stuff is extremely heavy, shipping tends to cost as much the product, so the trick is to find it locally. I found a company in San Francisco called Bay Area Noise Control and picked up a 100 sqft roll and one roll of seam tape this morning.

I did the floors, but still need to do the rear wheel wells. The MLV is heavy, but surprisingly easy to work with. Hear is how the floors went:

      All painted with ZeroRust

Two to three layers of dampner

1/4" closed cell foam, I did not put any on the tunnel as the center console was already having clearance issues

Finally the MLV and seam tape

Now, if I could only get the LT1 to start...

That is probably about right :-) I pulled off the jute from the carpet over the hump, so the console sits at about stock height. So far everything has gone back together, but since I have a bit of wiring left and the refrigerant lines for the Vintage Air unit I am waiting on the lower dash panel on the passenger side.

That is what every convertible needs to keep the floor from getting wet. Done right you could get it to flow out the rocker before it got under that, lol. That is like a floor condom !

I used eDead which I bought in 2005. They have much better stuff out now, but I bought somewhere around 300 sqft at the time... always the problem with long-term projects!

James, I don't have much more on the wheels other than what is posted. With the baby I rarely get out to the garage to work on the car. I have the front on the engine tore down again as I can not seem to get the thing to start. As by now everything is new I am guessing that I did not have the timing quite aligned on the sprockets during the rebuild. Once that is done, I just need to finish building the A/C hoses and e-brake cables, find a steering wheel I like and it should be ready to take to DMV for inspection. At this pace that should be two more years :-)
