      TH400 question

Can the vacume modulator can leak oil around the perimeter, or is there no direct connection to the oil pan? I have a pretty good leak and it is either from that or my dipstick which is an inch away.

The modulator can leak around the perimeter. It is sealed by an O-ring. It can also leak through the diaphram and have your intake suck in a lot of tranny fluid. I have a TH-400 in my Chevelle and my first guess would be the seal at the dipstick tube. Hope this helps

I thought mine was leaking from the accumulator on my 69 camaro....it tuned out to be the o-ring on the dipstick tube. I replaced the o-ring and topped the trans fluid!
