I need some ideas for garage wall mounted bumpers?

I am needing a bumper that will go around the whole garage. This stuff is like $14 for 24"

I spent some time at Home Depot yesterday and am considering some vinyl molding, but it isn't like the rubber bumper style. I have two toned the garage and would like to find something to cover where the paint lines meet but also work for opening doors.

I can't come up with any good alternatives? Any ideas?

I was thinking about using a hot knife and cutting some of these in half lengthways, and attaching them with sheetrock screws and a washer.

I got some from Lowes. Look in the gardening area and you will find some black foam insulation that I am guessing is designed to go around a hose or conduit. I put it on my shelves on one side and bench on the other at door length. it was like 4 bucks for 8 feet. It may be odd looking to have a black tube running around your garage, but it is great for shelf edges and is pre-slit on one side.

Go to a boat repair shop. A larger one. They can probably get some of these D shaped rubber fenders. Or a truck repair shop

When I saw the title I thought you wanted to mount some old car bumpers on the wall for a little man cave decoration

My kids have gotten them from the dollar store for a buck. 5' long each and split in two pieces makes 10' for a dollar.

Problem is, they're pink, light blue or fluorescent green. blah.

Boat bumpers seem to be the best idea, depending on price.

Thanks for the feedback. The pool noodles would work, but I wonder how that would look?

I like the looks of that JC whitney stuff. I am going to run out there at take some measurements.

I posted pictures of my garage back in the first post so you guys could check it out. I found a 60 gallon 5HP compressor and a millermatic welder that I hope to pick-up before too long. I have always used my fathers tools and now it is time to start building my own tool collection.

I have some ideas that I would like to do in the future with bumpers for shelves, but I barely have enough room for 2 cars as it is! It would be cool though!

Check a marine supply company . . . you want dock bumper, not boat bumper (too hard) This stuff comes in rolls, and is about 4-6" high with a raised hollow triange bumper in the center.

It would look good separating the paint colors. It doubles protecting car doors from wall, and wall from rolling tool boxes etc. Can't remember how much it is anymore.

what about using garage door bottom seals? I know home depot has a variety of different styles, and they usually run about a dollar per foot or less. They usually have them in 10' or 16' lengths, so it should give you some options.

Or, they have the aluminum channel and rubber insert in 4 foot lengths. I think it would look pretty good with the aluminum channel, but its 40 bucks for 4-4 foot pieces. to do a whole 24x24 garage, you'd be looking at little over 200 bucks. But Im sure somebody makes them in longer sections. heres a link to what Im talking about.
