      Youtube question

Is it possible and if so how do you make a copy of a video to a disc or your computer that is posted on Youtube?

I know I can send a URL to myself but that's not what I want.

I am looking to make a hard copy of a video of my 2002 CHP Camaro in action at the CHP Academy that is posted on Youtube.

Hmmmm, I capture the temporary flv file from the Internet Explorer, then play the flv file with the flv player. Doesn't work for all videos though.

If you look in your temporary internet files you may see a few flv files. These files are created when you watch a video like the ones on YT. You can copy the file out of the temporary folder and place it on the desktop(or anywhere except the original location where it was created)...and D/L a flv player. This type of player will play these files types.

EDIT: PM your email addy and I will email you a flv player. The file isn't very large so it shouldn't be a problem to send via email.

There's an app called VideoGet - and I'm sure dozens of similar apps - that will make .avi/.mpg files from Youtube videos.

just a note: be careful using google or some other search engine to find flv players....some have malicious files attached.

If all else fails the could try a program called Fraps; gamers use it to capture gameplay. It can record all of what your screen sees.

This is what I use. It downloads the video to your PC in MP4 format. It also has a built in Converter to convert the video into another format, i.e. MP3, WMV etc etc. Here's the link.
