      02 Camaro AC

Not sure if this forum would be able to help me with this year of camaro or not but i thought i would give it a shot seeing ac is ac. My ac just broke in my 02 camaro. I out my gauges on it and I have some crazy pressures going on. With the ac on and the clutch spinning (verified) I have 130 psi on the low side and roughly the same on the high side. The clutch is not cycling on and off. Not sure if i have some sort of blockage somewhere or not. I was thinking more along the line of the compresor not working (creating low side "vacuum". Any ideas? Chris

could be a number of things. are there any pinched lines? maybe rock damage to a line.

first thing i would do is check for line damage then recover the system and pull the orfice tube to see what it looks like.

its hard to say that something is for sure the problem when there are 5 major parts to the system not counting the lines.

my 98 bird's ac clutch would not cycle and i found out that if the regulator reads to high or low it won't cycle. was it working and then quit suddenly? did it go gradually? was some refrigerant added that could have made it too high? can you remove some refrigerant to see if it starts cycling? there is a way to bypass regulator with a paper clip into a certain plug under hood. can't remember which one though myself so i'm not a lot of help there. mine would not cycle because it needed a new compressor. it had a cheap rebuilt already that had gone bad. this gen f-body is known for bad compressors.

btw mine was sold before repair so i can't even tell 100% for sure if new compressor would have fixed it or how much it costs.

just remembered, check the cooling fans. if they don't come on then you can also have this issue. they should come on when the a/c is on.
