      The best carb for you is the one you have the most experience tuning on.

      I run a Demon RS 680 cfm on my 383, which I'd recommend to you if it had a choke. As a cruiser, a choke is a good move. The RS is a competition carb with no provisions for one, but the size and range of adjustment make it work well for me.

      Look at the Avengers- fine out of the box carbs for engines like your Dad's.
      Scotts right on with the Demon, get a Road Demon in the 6-700 CFM range, they tune a lot like a Holley and size to size usually make more power than a Holley although Holleys are good carbs too.
