      When did this become popular??

I have been out of the country for 6 months, with only a little time in the middle back home. My wife and I got back on Sunday, and I have already seen three cars with these flame vents...WTF???

BTW, I also like the stick-on hood scoop, stick-on fender vents, and the Jersey shore stylin!

Actually, Congress passed a bill where they are now required on all vehicles with less than 200hp. True.

Yeah those are big with the city crowd and the young guys in the county. I've seen them along the drip rail, across the deck lid and across the rockers along with the quarter panel pictured. Funny, they don't appear to stick well as I've seen several with gaps in the row(s).

That's pretty horrid. Thanks for sharing!

I've not seen those yet. Now I can't 'unsee' them. I'm sure they'll be the 'Yosemite Sam Mudflap' of this summer...

I don't think I've seen the flame vents yet, but the stick on buick portholes are very popular around here. I see them on neons (curved over the front wheel opening) and a lincoln nav on my block has them on the 'C' pillar sail panel!
the Lund twin hood scoops are popular here also, esp dodge rams.

Haven't seen 'em here either, but then again I haven't been in the parking lot at the local Wal-Mart lately!

Not popular in my book, but I have seen it in the bigger cities, and like Chevrolaine said, it seems to be mostly on cars with less than 200hp. (or less)

Every time I see a news story of a drive by shooting or car jacking there is always a vehicle in the background with the fake Buick ports on the fenders. Just sayin........

The reason that they are so popular is simple.

      They look good on EVERYTHING.

Need to figure out how much fuel those port holes waste over 100k miles in aerodynamic drag. At least as much as they cost at AutoZone.

The portholes have been around for a couple years. I can only laugh at the morons who put them on, step back and think, "yep, I actually made my car look BETTER!"

Saw a kid about 2 wks ago that put the vents all over his hood to make it look like louvers. To me it looked more like plastic pimples, but hey, whatever.
