Bump Stop on Linked/coil over suspension?

What are you guys using for bump stops on a linked/coil over rear suspension?

On my 69 Camaro, I have about 1” of upward travel to the factory bump stop. It looks like the easiest way to get the travel and the bump stop is to run a bump stop on the shock shaft to limit up upward travel.

Is that what most are doing with DSE suspension?

Got to looking around and I think I will just put a set of of the QA1 1.25" bumpers on the shocks and take the bump stops off the frame.

One other option to look at is replacing the frame bump stops you have with some progressive rate bump stops.

Bump stops have changed abit. Builders have noticed that a progressive bump stop can actually be an active part in the suspension. Not just a fail safe method of stopping hard parts from bottoming out.

And unfortunately, the progressive bump stops can get kinda pricey.

Only downside to the coilover stops is that they are usually made from closed cell foam and will degrade if exposed to oil, antifreeze or other common automotive fluids.

JRouche is right about the stops being helpful tuning aids. Carroll Smith had a section about trimming Koni bump stops in "Prepare to Win". That was about 1974, so the idea's been around...
