      19'' rears- Verdict?

Any of you guys running 19's in the rear? if so, what size tire? hows the ride? performance?
kicking it back and forth whether to put 19's on the back of my camino.

I know tire style/sizes are limited in a 19x10, seem more abundant in an 18x10.

      Any thoughts?

makes your tire choices limited yea, but if youre just going to put around then why not.

and if anything, they look the last line of good in the size department.

Yeah, a little more to choose from in an 18x10, but the popular sizes for a 19x10 are there, in the way of a 275/35/19 and a 275/40/19. Both are available through Nitto, or Hankook.

As the sidewall gets shorter the forward traction is reduced. That's why guys running newer factory cars with slicks sometimes go from a 18" size rim down to a 17" on the rear on a dragstrip. They get more sidewall but still clear the brakes.

Secondly, even though the added stiffness of a shorter sidewall can be beneficial to lateral Gs, it can also be more difficult to feel when you've reached the very limit of cornering traction.

In the end, do whatever makes you happy.

I have 18/19's on my car

love the way they look. Am I going to pick up 2/10's around the track with 18's...highly unlikely for me.

I am running stock C6 corvette stuff. Just pick up some HRE's in 18/19 combo. I can get a NT-05 in a 335/30/19 to run on the rear.

I'm so glad to have rid of my 19's on my car. Unlike Payton, I have an ultra deep rear lip. I always thought my car looked like it had a 20/18 combo which is hideous. My new wheels are 18" step lips and I'm much happier. The deep dish increases the actual wheel size in my mind. I also fell the fat lip plays a role.

      Question for you....

Well, first nice car! Now on to the question, What size tires are you running front and rear? Also, what width are the wheels?

      Thanks in advance,

      Chris

I don't think you'll have too much trouble with tires. The BMW contingent has a tone of 19x10-10.5 wheels. Maybe you want a little bigger aspect ratio, but the tires are there. BFG KDW are also available in 295/35/19's but there seems to be more available in a 30 ratio.

I also have a 275 35 19 on the back of my G8 on a 9.5" wheel. You can see them here.

19" tire selection is improving, but as far as sticky tires go the selection is still limited, a lot of z06 guys end up getting 18" rears so they can run a 100 treadwear tires like a R888 toyo. Currently in the 325/345 width there is not a lot between a street tire and the hoosier slicks. Something I'm dealing with on the vette now. Plus they are real expensive $400-600 per rear tire. The 18" seem a bit more popular and affordable, plus I prefer the look of 17's or 18's on muscle cars. 18/19 combos are starting to grow on me though.
