Vacuum pump install

Anyone here running a vacuum pump (aerospace components , Moroso) on a small block chevy?
I have one that I am preparing to install, but as you have to make your own brackets, looking for any ideas as to how other people handled it.

I just completed vacuum pump install for brakes. Great unit and decent install, never installed for engine yet.

I will let you know 1 st hand that a vacuum pump for power brakes will not work for crank case vacuum. I have tried this when I checked the reading at the valve cover where I had the guage it only read 3 lbs.

Definitely not a good idea to use a vacuum pump for power brakes for engine vacuum application.

Not coming from experience but if I was to install a vacuum pump for an engine, common sense tells me that buying the correct pump for the correct application would be the right thing to do.

I am talking about the Aerospace Components 3 vane vacuum pump, vacuum relief valve and crankshaft mandrel set up.

Several catalog list standard SBC mounting brackets for the Aerospace and Moroso pumps, I didn't dig it out but Summit for one. If not flt aluminum plate stock with spacers will work mounted off the water pump or other handy spots on the front of the engine

You'll also need a breather tank and of course the belt. For that type of pump the breather tank should be installed such that the output line from the pump travels downhill to the tank. The reason is that the vane style pump will not work well if it gets full of oil water mix which is what you accumulate in the breather tank.

Jaz makes a decent reasonably proced plastic unit set up for a drain line. The drop in crankcase pressure allows the water to boil out of the oil at temps well below 212 and that is why you get both oil and water in the tank which often looks like what you get when water gets into the oil in the pan (milkshake).

I sent the aerospace one back and got the Aeromotive version, which has a bracket that will mount to the passenger side head on an SBC, it shoudl be here Wednesday. I have the breather tank, AN lines and everything else all ready to go.
