      LS1 Swap Shop near Savannah

      Hello Everyone,

I am currently deployed in Afghanistan and hoping someone here can help me out. I have a 68' Camaro at home and looking to swap in a 99 corvette LS1 I bought before deploying. I would love to attempt the swap myself but I don't think my mechanical knowledge is to that level yet and I seem to be deployed most of the time.

I am not sure how to find a shop that is well experienced in LS swaps that does great work and still looks at keeping the swap budget down when needed. The question is could someone tell me of a shop like this not to far from Savannah, GA? Thanks in advance.

Tim, Contact David Sloan over in Cartersville,Ga. He owns Road Killer Kustoms, has the skills and knowledge and is an all round nice guy. You can get about a hundred references for him on this site alone. He is a site sponser and can be reached at 678-873-6578.

Thanks Mike. I contacted him through his website. Phone isn't the best means of communication here.

Tim, contact Auto Intensive Care at 912-963-9635. Talk to Mike Lombardo. He can hook you up properly. Another choice is JenJacs which is a high end restoration and custom builder here in Savannah. They have a website that is pretty nice. Either one can do the job and they are local to you and me.

Thanks Tom. I did try and contact JenJacs a few weeks ago. I guess they are too high end to reply to a soldiers email from Afghanistan.

I decided to try and install the engine and trans myself with the help of a buddy of mine. We both have very basic skills. I should be able to tackle the big stuff in my garage but I am positive I am going to be looking for help on some of the stuff towards the end so I am still going to need a good shop to finish up for me.

Right now I am still gathering parts so they will be ready for me when I return home in a few months. I am still trying to figure out the engine mount/oil pan/header/trans crossmember combination to get an easy install with no modifications and still keeping the costs down. I can't wait to get started.

Congrats Ty!! I love hearing stories about good people showing their appreciation and helping out military members. That lets you know what a great community this is.

Ill try and call them for you on monday. I know the owner a little bit. he had a 67GTO back in the day, 67 to about 75 or so. I always thought it was the fastest car in the world when I was a kid. If I can get Jody on the phone I'm sure he will entertain the idea.
