I'm stuck...discs for my '68 camaro
I'm stuck. I have most of the parts for the car, but I can't do my suspension until I have my brakes.
Baers are A. too expensive, B. not that much different from what I understand than z06 or ls1 brakes. C.I won't be able to get parts as conveniently.
So I'm thinking ls1 camaro/TA brakes. I know I'll need to fab the brackets, but the rest shouldn't be that tough right? or am I just kidding myself.
I'm doing multileaf rear, pretty much stock front with new parts, I have a currie 9" that was made for a camaro. So nothing is too exotic.
Please help.

08-27-2004 #2Depends on what you want but I just took off Superior Spindles off the front of my 73 Nova. The are 2 inch drop spindles. The neat thing about them is that they were made to have 1LE brakes and rotors installed and they move the piman arm in for clearance. Everything only has about 1K miles on them and they worked great. Spindle, rotors, calipers I will let go for 650.00 plus shipping. You will have no prblem stopping.

1le brakes...jog my memory, are those the ones from the camaro/TA?
What did you do about rears?Matt Gassner

Thats them. Basically a 12 inch factory rotor and matching 4 piston caliper.
If I read correctly you are using a 9in. With a little hunting or a trip to a Ford dealer you can come up with the rear disk brakes from a Lincoln Versalle (probably spelled wrong). It was the Mercury version of the Granada. Made a ton of them and I still see them in yards from time too time.

The thing about this 9in, and what is confusing me....it's made for a camaro, same lug pattern, all that. So I think for purposes of brakes it might as well be a 10 bolt.
