69 Firebird - Brake upgrade recommendations.

To get Project: Death Machine kicked off (69 firebird), progress thread located here

      https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=68672

I need to figure out what I want to do with the brakes, the master cylinder in particular. I've read on these forums about the hydroboost system that utilizes hydraulic energy from the power steering pump to power the brakes. The car currently has front discs on the front stock spindles and discs in the back (Ford 9" mini-tubbed rear end). I plan on keeping these brakes on for now and possibly updating the fronts to larger discs at a later time. (Side note: I plan on running a Boze Pro-touring 18"/19" wheel setup).

Can I get some recommendations on what master cylinder I should use and what kind of price I'd be looking at? I already have the stock lines that I could utilize to cut down on some costs, but I'll be needing some extra line along the way. I'm guessing I need the following parts at this point:

      Master Cylinder (Wilwood or Hydroboost)
      Distribution block
      Proportioning Valve
      Misc. brake line
      Misc. fittings
Arm to connect the brake lever
      Firewall mounting plate?

The car will eventually utilize an LS2/T56.

Hydroboost setups run factory mc's if you wish. Most used and recommended bore ID is 1.125. If you are going cast iron, get a MC for a 78-82 Corvette. If you want to use a Wilwood MC, then order 260-8556.

Hydratech makes a kit that includes everything to install. They retail at $740. No guessing, no figure out which parts to get, it has already been done for you. You reuse your existing brake lines, and could reuse your exisitng MC, but the brakes may be sensative.

Thanks for the reply. I would probably be replacing the master cylinder and proportioning valve.

In my cost cutting efforts, I've come across this ebay mounting plate. Now...to figure out which hydroboost systems it mates to...

Also, here's a thread I found where people are making "make-shift" hydroboost systems. I'm not sure if the quality or cost pans out in the long run, but I'm going to look into it...
