      NCRC Thunderhill Friday, June 25th

I just registered for the driving school, it will be my first time on a road course. Anyone else going?

Now I need to get some seat time on the street between now and then!

I'll be at Spectre341Challenge if I could get my engine issues sorted out.

This past weekend I checked off the boxes on the NCRC tech inspection sheet. Re-bled brakes, added a fire extinguisher, extra battery bracket, and other misc. things. Bought a GForce SA2005 Helmet, some Simpson gloves and I'm good to go.

Thanks! I keep hearing Thunderhill is the perfect beginner's track...plenty of corner variations and lots of runoff in each corner. A safe track day is a successful track day!

The NCRC check list is a good one and I always refer to it just in case I might forget something.

Remember to torque your lugs each and every time before you get on the road course. I torque mine to 95 lbs. Check your tire pressures each and every time you get on and off the track so that you can get an idea of how much more they inflate from heat. Once you have figured that out you can work on setting pressures to your liking. Some guys chalk their tires but I go by feel.

Wish I could join you Sik68, but can't make that event. Once you do your first event you'll be hooked. ;-) Glad to have another P-T car on the track!

Yep, bring your torque wrench to the track. I always check all my lug nuts right before starting every track session.

I was out there last Sunday with HOD. Weather was perfect! Looks like it will be a little warm for you tomorrow. Keep an eye on your coolant levels and temp. Check your brake pad depth.

Great looking car and thanks for the tips. I've been commuting with the Camaro all week and monitoring its vitals. Tonight I double check the torque on all fasteners, top off the oil, and do a bunch of other little but important stuff. Seems like you can never be prepared enough.

I had an absolute blast on my first track day. NCRC is a great group, and Dave Mills (the NCRC chiefton) came up to me and my car at the end of the day with some encouraging words to say. They run a tight ship there, but still extremely laid back and friendly.

I had an instructor on board for Sessions 3,4,5, who really helped me maximize my time on-track. In my project thread, I posted an extensive summary of the day's events, along with a couple in-car videos of my complete session 5. Session 4 will be posted soon as well.

Here's a complete photo directory of the cars there that day.

Here's one of the videos from the day:

Thanks for all of the encouragement. Hope to meet you guys at an event soon,

Dude, this is way more fun than building a car. I have discovered the dark side of the hobby and my whole perspective has changed.
