Power shear
What brand should I buy? I was looking for something to cut threw 16 gauge metal. I dont want one that works with a compressor. I was thinking of a makita? any help would be great

Kett....
Kett makes the best drill motor style hand held center cut shear. Milwaukee has a pretty good one too. Kett is the original and will last you for years even with continued use.
You might also look into a hand held throatless style shear. They can cut on a line very well and you don't have the center cut waste.
I have both and usually use the throatless style Black and Decker that is 20 yrs old and still works great. The center cut shears can get into places the throatless shear can't. If I had to choose between one or the other I would get the center cut shear.
