<shrug> A lot of times things start out as harmless pranks but when they go back and forth things escalate to stupidity. There's a guy I work(ed) with who walked off the job because someone drew something on his hardhat. He did it on a day when the boss (foreman) was away @ a funeral. He wouldn't pull that kind of crap walking off the job if the boss was around. Anyways... He tried to come back to work after a few days so he came in to talk to the boss... But one of HIS earlier pranks had gotten back to the boss already

He had done something EXTREMELY inappropriate to a female employee he thought was funny... well it got back to the boss, and when he decided he wanted to come back to work, they wouldn't allow him to. Now he has a lawyer going after the original guy who drew on his hardhat saying he was "sexually harassed" (has to do with what was drawn)and in turn going after the boss because he claims the boss let this sort of thing go on.

The guy doesn't have a leg to stand on because he can't prove who did what and the boss wasn't even there to do anything about it, but he's trying to get some out of court settlement because they won't let him get unemployment and he could potentially be charged with something over what he did to the female employee.

Point is, I don't find physical pranks to be a good idea. It just ends up getting out of control eventually and if the two of you aren't mature enough to say, "Hey, this needs to stop." then it tends to just get bigger and bigger every time until something bad happens.
