Saw this very briefly mentioned on a sidebar (highlighting upcoming car tech) in the June Automobile magazine. Cambered tires...soon to be mass produced.

I can see a possible benefit from a sports car with independent suspension but how in the world is that going to help big trucks and trailers as said in the article?

"The revolutionary camber tire design has broad market applications for every automobile category, over-the-road trucks (semi) and vehicles with non-driven solid axle vehicles, such as trailers or mini-vans"

neat....is the tire always cambered in the same direction or is it variable....keep the same contact patch regardless if the axle is articulating like when the solid axle travels over a speed bump diagonally(one wheel at a time).

Cambered tires are nothing new, but you have to 15" wheels to get them.

Every tire has a little camber in it....its called conicity. That's why the tire tends to roll in an arc rather than a straight line. Although its less noticeable in wider tires. We(at Honda) sort tires for conicity and apply them such that we can control how a vehicle pulls left or right.
