Paint gun recomendations for the DIY painter

I havent used those guns, but i have seen some cheapy gun lay some super nice jobs out.

I spray with sata only, but since you plan to spary your car only. No need to buy a $600 gun.

we do hydrographics, the finishline guns are what we use. they are excellent. i would also recommend the dekups, they will save you some clean up.

Honestly I used to paint with a Campbell Hausefield 6500 paintgun, lays down laquer, base/clear Tech base from Napa, And also Acme base/clear too.
I usedt opaint with my dads little tiny 1hp single cyl compressor and my Devilbiss made Craftsman 15 gallon 5 hp compressor.
The CH gun works as good as the Sharpe 775 I traded a buddy for.
Big trick is check air and fluid caps for burrs and bad machining and rough fluid needles.
Now also dont pass on a Astro Pneumatic gravity feed gun, they really do work good, and seem to have a reasonable selection of air caps and fluid caps.
Honestly we used to have a cheapy Sears and it shot just about everything ok.
Its technique as much as gun.
I also got taught how to mix my paint by my uncle who has a body shop and he also told me to never crank the pressure up too high, some guns just wont perform at higher end of pressures.
OH and practice a lot too. Most paint stores have already mixed paint people havent picked up and you can buy it cheap for test painting.

I also used a Finishline gun and had very good results. Getting extra tips is a good idea because they are plastic and they did seem to wear after awhile with the acrylic enamel.

Always practice on something that needs to get done but doesn't matter and will need 2 coats anyway.

Finishline is a good gun. But honestly if you don't plan to do this regularly, see if you can find a cheap ATD with a 1.3-1.4 tip. It'll work fine.
