efi on a soild lifter chevy?

i want to install a efi carb look alike on my 72 camaro. i have a few question that some of you might know before i order more parts i cant use. the motor is a 360 ci chevy dynoed at 600 hp and has a solid lifter cam.1 can i use efi with the cam in it now? 2 is it worth the 2k ,it starts up and runs great,my only problem is driving to a gas station every few miles so will it get any better milage if so how much? 3 wich system is the best?so far i like the f.a.s.t. system,i do not know anything about computers or even own a lap top,so the self learning looks good and i want to keep it looking like a carb motor.

EFI will gain you some extra MPG's thru better fuel and timing control. The majority of the fuel mileage gains comes from overdrive trannys.

Depending on the system you choose, solid lifter cams can be compatable with EFI.

sounds like a very good candidate for one of the self-tuning systems, FAST EZ-EFI, Retrotek Powerjection III, Holley Avenger, etc.

i put in a tremic 5 speed,it made it drivable on the highways, but the motor is not happy under 2,500 rpm or holding the throttle steady for a long time,so it still bad on gas.

One of the best things I did was put in the XFI 280 Comp Cams cam and lifters. I went hyd flat tappet but roller would be good too and the drivability change is amazing.

600hp is no fun if you can't drive around like normal. You will also gain so much more torque in the bottom and midrange you will never miss the higher hp.

You can get it to run with the EFI but it just won' be what it can be with the right cam for it.

      Have fun

i might just put the 800 edelbrock back on for now ,it made 50+ hp less than the big 850 holly hp carb but was more drivable.
