mini tubs/ New gas tank?
i got a 69 camaro, I was looking at getting minitubs so i could fit some 335 under there. when i was looking at the DSE site to buy the minitubs but it suggest you purchase a smaller gas tank for $800+ for clearance im assuming. can anyone answer is it a necessity that u get the smaller tank or can u just use the stock gas tank? thanks

05-11-2010 #2u dont have to buy a smaller tank... but it is very necessary to notch the corners of a stock tank. the offset of the shackles will hit the tank when they pivot.
Myself and a friend just bought new tanks (to avoid fumes when welding) and scalloped the ends closest to the filler neck and bent up a piece of metal to fill it. Hope this helps.CAN YOU BUILD PROTOUR ON A BUDGET?! NOT!

If you are using leaf springs (which I would highly suggest you do not use leaf springs) you should use a narrow tank as the spring move inboard into where the stick tank resides.
if you use a 4 link, you need only to notch the corners for tail pipe clearance.
Feel free to call me for any clarification

i just finished installing the dse mini tubs. i went with a fuel cell in the trunk. i also move the springs in board and used sliders
so the springs are straight and the sliders work better. but my
car is a street strip car. handling is not an option but can be changed later. 10 in w x15d rim and a 12in w tire. but the cell is nice in the trunk. just a suggestion good luck.
