      Roadster Shop Open House

The Roadster Shop is going to have an open house for everyone that is attending the Face Off at Road America May 1st and 2nd. This will be before the event as a stop along the way to Elkhart Lake, WI. The Roadster Shop is located approximately 115 Miles south of Road America in Mundelein, IL. I am assuming that the majority of people will be coming up I-94/I-294 through Chicago. Mundelein is a Northern suburb of Chicago approximately 10miles west of I-94/I-294, making it right on the way to the track.

Our plan is to have this open house as a stop along the trip up to Elkhart Lake, WI. We are looking at Thursday April 29th or Friday April 30th. The exact date will be based on when everyone is going to be driving through the area. If the majority of people are planning on making the trip through on Friday we would set up a lunch or dinner, shop tour, bench racing session, etc... If everyone is planning on coming through on Thursday, I can get a block of rooms at a local hotel and do a dinner at the shop.

We have a lot of unique builds going on in the shop, a wide array of chassis/suspension products, and several killer Pro-Touring projects that we can not currently post on the internet. The C1-RS '62 Vette will be on display as well.

We have a large parking lot with plenty of trailer parking if needed.

Please reply to this thread and let us know if anyone would be interested attending and what day they plan on passing through Chicago. (I realize that this is early and things may change.)

Cool, I'd love to come and may come up in a few weeks anyway! You all do killer work!

But, it all depends on if my buddy can get a call back from y'all about ordering a frame for a Chevy truck. He has been trying for about a week now......
Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Shmoov, I spoke with your friend today and we are going to build him a chassis for his 51 pick up. Thanks for the heads up. After talking to him, we both had dropped the ball. You should definitely make it up to the shop some time and check everything out.

Cool, I talked to him after you called him, thanks!
We had planned on picking it up, but if it will ship cheaper than state tax, I guess we won't! May try to trek up there sometime anyway.

I would like to try to get an idea of how many people are planning on attending our open house so we can get the right amount of food/drink for lunch. Please post or PM me if you are planning on attending.

We will be serving lunch on Friday April 30th, from 12:00 - 1:00 and planned on having the shop open until 3 or 4. This was designed to be for the people heading to the Face Off event, but is open to anyone who wants to attend.

      The address is:

I would like to, but it was the same cost to have a frame delivered......speaking of, when is the truck frame shipping here? We are getting anxious to say the least!

      Roadster shop visit

My wife and I are driving up from St. Louis on Friday. We are planning on stopping buy if we can get on the road early enough in the morning. I believe we'd have to leave by 6:00 am to get there by noon.

I'll be trailering the car since my wife is joining me. Is there plenty of room for a Tahoe and an open trailer?

Thanks for the responses. Is anyone bringing a truck and trailer or just driving your cars? If there are going to be a lot of trailers, we are probably going to have to park them across the street at the Best Buy/Target parking lot. I will arrange that ahead of time.

Glad to see that you are happy. Sounds like a pretty cool project that you will have to definitely keep us updated on. Sorry for the delay, the shipping company that we use for midwest deliveries changed their policies and we had to find a new shipper. The crates are so large and they take up over 1/2 the truck and they can not stack anything on top of them. So they either refused to take the chassis, or would take the chassis but would not insure it, and would not guarantee that it would arrive in the same condition that it left in. So needless to say, we aren't using them anymore!

My Dad and I will be heading up from the Cincinnati area early Friday morning.

Bill and gang, if you are coming through the area, let me know and we can try to latch on to your caravan.

I'm really looking forward to this event - the Open House and Road America.

I may end up on the trailer if I bring more than one car.... if so it'll be a 48' enclosed and I'll try to advise soonest (working on one of the cars) so if the parts come in tomorrow/wed morning,,,, I'll have two on board... If not I'll most likely drive in the car (actually preferable for me)....
