      Door skin pliers

I guess even though only doing a pair I need to break down and buy a pair of door skin pliers so anyone got a recomm on which pair to choose? I will be using them on a Chevelle and have the doors skinned already. Thanks Brandon

not trying to debate here just my preference. I see alot of people buy tools they do not need.

to remove gring edges. The remaining metal that is on the door frame i use a cut off wheel carefully.

To install i use a 2x4 yes wood and a hammer. When done I metal file a little on the outside.

If need more details just ask but not going to start a internet bicker

no problem there 200, I personally have never changed a door skin even though we have a body shop here, we do have an AWESOME body man here who has done his fair share, So any time I can learn something from anyone I just makes me that much better of an owner, that's why were all here to pass on and learn, I know my limitations, and always want to learn

I didn't use the pliers to install my door skins. I used a hammer and dolly (mostly hammer). A couple of tips to make the new skin bend easier is to strip all paint off (both sides), as well as score the inside fold just slightly with a thin grinding wheel. Work the bend slowly along the entire length with the hammer. I found the process to be pretty easy. A padded door stand from Eastwood is totally worth it.

      Good luck - Ron

Most posts I've read also mention using panel adhesive then a hammer and dolly to roll the edges. I'm hoping not to have to change a skin but if I do I plan to do mine this way. Any issues with this ???
