OK to mount battery on firewall?

I was considering relocating the battery into the trunk, but I thought of another option... Could I mount a Braille battery onto the engine bay firewall of my 1969 Cutlass? I have the AC and heat deleted, so I have plenty of room to use their mount on the passenger side.

My concern is passing tech at the drag strip, and I'd like to road race it too. I know you can't mount a FPR on the firewall, not sure if there is a rule about the battery in that location.

This would remove the heavy battery from nose of the car (behind headlight), to a more centered location. No hassle of running long cables to the trunk with remote solenoids, rear firewalls, cut off switches etc. Also make it easier to run a dual snorkle intake system, with no battery in the way.

Sorry, I should have specified. Most early fords through the 50s were mounted there and so were the tri five chevys.

So yeah it will be fine there.....as long as you are okay with looking at it there.

Mine is mounted in the trunk. I barely had room for my engine without worring about a battery too.
