      67 Firebird pro-touring build

Seen my car for the first time since afghanistan yesterday. It's better than i ever could have imagined. For the last few months its been in the body shop having new body panels put on, and awaiting paint. He's letting me use his shop for my work while my car is still in there and helping me along the way as I need it. So we pulled the rear axle and leaf springs, installed the new Hotchkis 1 1/2" drop leafs, cleaned up the rear end, it was a total mess, also pulled the axles and the backing plates for the old drum system. Now this morning I am sitting here wating on my new control arms and 4-wheel disk brakes that should of been here a few days ago, and minus the stainless lines that were "out of stock"....everything cant go like it should huh?

If you used the img. tag (like from photobucket), don't line the text straight across. Enter one tag, then start a new paragraph.

And nice project. There's more and more firebirds on this site everyday.

since i last posted the rearend has been painted a hammertone gray, has the rear disks installed, and the rearend bolted in.
and instead of the 1 bolt on each side of the leaf springs, there are now 2.

btw with the hotchkis drop leafs and hardware kit, or atleast just with my rearend. i had to drill out the slots slightly on the shock mounts and the axle for the beefier u-bolts.

also all of the brake lines are off, brake booster, master cylinder, and whatever else i dont need. along with the front suspension.

my lower control arms are installed and the uppers didnt come with new bolts. and i wasnt about to put the old ones back on. went to the hardware store and picked up a few grade-8 bolts to replace the old ones, and tomorrow going to pick up my new rims, then off to install the rest of my front suspension and then have it rolling.

      new pics as of today.

      new drilled and slotted rotors...

They're on the rear as well, cant get rear shocks yet theyre all wrong

its a little dirty in some places and am going to paint the cover black

Showing the style of the boss 338's, a lot of people compare them to the american racing rims but these are much more aggresive

front control arms, brakes, spinles, sway bar ect.

      haha yeah they are cpp.
i see a lot of ads ect with them but dont really see too many people using them, and they are really affordable so i figured i would test them out and see how well i like them.

I'm interested in those same rims. Please tell me what size they are and what size rotors you're running. I was told in one of my threads in the wheels section that those rims might not clear the calipers because the curve of the rim is too aggressive, but I'm going to have LS1 brakes, so I'd like to see how they look on yours. can you get a picture with one of the rims on to show the clearance too. thanks man. I love those rims, and for the price you can't beat them.

im not sure about them working with ls1 brakes...
      18" should cover it right?
      im using 18x8's
do you already have the brakes?
mock them up and measure them.
im not with my car any more.
i had to come back down to north carolina.
i will try to find a picture of the rims/brakes together

With regard to the wheels and brakes, it looks like you have the stock size rotor and caliper, so I would think 18" wheels will be no problem. I think they only offer the 338's with a 4.5" bs on an 8" wheel, so I've been wondering how they will fit. I've been told you need 4.875 bs on an 18x8 in front. That's a custom size and all the TTII's and others I see are all 4.5 bs.

Keep us informed on this build. Things look great. I would like to hear any feedback you have on the CPP UCA as well. I have some sitting in the garage ready for install on my 68 camaro
