      Corvette Calipers

No expert take this for what its worth. Working on my buddy's semi-track car, sees a lot of street use. Has C6 calipers. Was seeing some fade and we upgraded fluids and working on getting some air to the brakes. Brake people told him part of the problem was that the newer Vette calipers have aluminum pistons. They transfer heat too well and like to heat up the fluid pushing them. Hmmm. Sold him stainless pistons. Seemed to work better. They were in fact aluminum and now make great places to mix paint, drive in seals and other various tasks.

      Hype, or valid point?

valid, think about the tolerance change with heat soak.

stainless is the way to go. Cool shot glasses too. LOL j/k

There are several options with respect to pistons, stainless alloys are much poorer conductors of heat relative to aluminum, but also heavier. Wilwood skirts this with their "Thermlock" piston design which is essentially an aluminum piston with stainless caps. Higher up the food chain still are vented Titanium pistons, but now you're talking some serious money.

Do you mind sharing who's aftermarket stainless pistons you used?

Nice, do you think you will experience any problems with the calipers spreading?

What about the C5...do they also use an aluminum piston?

      Love the Wraith reference, awesome!
