      Question about VEHICLE report

So I'm looking at a 2009 Tribeca that use to be a Rental vehicle and the VEHICLE report shows under Accident/Damage - "Damage Reported". That's all it says and so i'm a little concerned by that. What is the best way to go about evaluating such an ambiguous report? I can crawl all around the vehicle but body shops are getting pretty good at hiding stuff and I don't even know if the damage was minor or major? It Doesn't have a salvage or rebuilt title so I guess that's a good thing too. i'm just very leery, especially after reading Chris Fesler's post and hearing many horror stories.

Can someone give me some advice as to what steps I might take to ensure I don't get a lemon. by the way, the car is for sale at a local Subaru dealership for what it's worth.

      Thanks everyone.

Where are you getting the report from?

Please do not offer to run such reports. The referenced company watches car forums and takes legal action after the forum owners when those offers are made. That's why the forum software blocks out that company's name.

I NEVER offered to run a report, I asked a question ABOUT a report that was generated on a car i'm interested in buying. Please re-read my post.

If your concerned, as I would be too, take it to a body/collision shop for an hour.

Pay the shop to go over it meticulously for an hour.

Thanks for the post rjsjea! that's a very good idea. I guess the trick will be to find a reputable body shop in my area as well.

Any idea of what that might cost? I have no idea of what shop rates are or if there is any type of standard "car inspection" type service that body shops offer?

      Thanks again,

19sixtynine - had you offered, I would have edited your post instead.
