Can an engine or car be possesed with failure?

It has been a long road to get my car running with the stock car engine I put in it. The list of failures attached to it has gone on for the life of it as I know it. The engine packed it's final blow today to my perseverance and determination to get it to live.

Have you ever had an experience of an engine or car possesed with an ability to keep draining your life and your pocketbook to the point I have experienced?

      I know I can't be alone.

You can read the story in my thread about how it has come to an end and why I went to such lengths to try to get it to live.

Yup, with a work van actually. After $12,000 or so, I finally parked it because everything we done to it kept on eating money. I sold it to a guy that worked for us and he hasn't had a problem with it! It hated us!
And a Daytona turbo Z I had bought after high school so I didn't have to drive the Camaro everyday. I bought it for $900, put $2,700 in it and sold it for $700! BRILLIANT!! I know not much, money now, but just out of high school, it was a ton!

      Sorry about your problems man!

'96 Mazda MPV, put like $3K into it over less than 2 years; so many things to fix that it had to go to the mechanic for or I didn't have time to do myself- timing belt, radiator, coolant lines, and RUST!
the only saving grace was it got hit while parked in front of our house. after I finally got the check from the other guys insurance, I was able to sell it.
had a '85 golf also, nothing went right in that car, I hated it. nickle and dimed me to death.

I have a 68 Z/28 that was used for racing in the 70's and early 80's I was given when I turned 18. No matter what I did to this car it wanted to run. When I started restoring it a few years ago and used some of the parts from it on my 6SPDRAT Camaro non of the parts fit. We are talking everything from the grill and trim to rear end and windshield trim. New out of the box stuff fits both cars!

      Some cars have a soul.

So true! During college I had an MG Miget 'vert. That thing had one major problem after another and cost thousands to fix. It was a loaner from a GF's Dad (he musta liked me, ha ha). After I finished school I bought a used BMW 325 and drove the snout out of it - a couple hundred thousand miles with only brakes, tires and a timing belt....

An engine with bad core shift or a car with a slightly tweaked frame will always provide plenty of headaches. Chasing problems sucks, but not as bad as after you sell the haunted POS and the new owner has no issues, ever.

Of course, driving ultra conservatively tends to bring fewer problems to light. At least that's what I hear...I've never been able to test this theory myself.

I have a boat that is pretty moody and I have spent too much on it, and I have owned boats. I know that it stands for B(break) O(out) A(another) T(Thousand).

my wife's pilot is jinxed. Front + rear glass is new, the coolant line to the rear hvac got punched by highway debris, now the radiator is leaking.4 years old.

Yup, I named it Christine after the one in the movie. My kids still refer to it by that name to this day. I had some REAL choice statements as it drove away with it's new owner. I truly hope the curse ended with me and didn't follow the car to it's new owner. I've had difficult cars before this one was a nightmare. I haven't had a bad one since. I hope I used up all the bad karma on just that one car. I don't know if I could mentally survive another.

Been there...Had a car that was either breaking or getting me in tickets. It was a joke on a local forum that I should R&D parts on the car because if there was a way to break it, it would. Sold the car to a friend and it has been problem free.
