      It's all Mary Pozzi's fault......

      She made me do it.

Why settle for a 275/40/17 when a 285 is just a little bit bigger? It's 10lbs of tire in a 10lb hole. There is zero room for error.

Thanks for the heads-up Mary on the Kumho Ecsta XS. It's a great tire.

All 4 corners? That's stuffing 11 pounds of tire in a 10 pound hole. Did you take out more steering?

Ride was good.. no drama. At 180 the grip was excellent.

About the only neg, and it's minor, is that they are a little on the heavier side, but that makes for a nice rigid sidewall.

They ride much better than the previous NT555RII, but that was a dedicated autocross tire. I agree with Steve, for a 180 tire, they are very nice.

Stock front and rear wheelwells. The aft lips are rolled from 10-2 o'clock.

Hey Mike. All four. No more steering dialed out, but the caster had to be reduced to +5* and the camber increased to -1.25*. No biggie on the camber since I was already running -1*. It's a very full wheelwell.

Looking at your site, I see you're running a 9.5" wheel. Is that with the stock subframe? If so, bravo!

So ... does that mean we'll see your bad self at Willow next month??? Hope so.

You're going to love these tires and I'm thinking of also running them on the Shelby. Locally, we've got an autocross class for Stock Class with street tires and the Kumho XS fits the bill perfectly. A set would last over a year, most likely two, and sure beats the hell out of spending $1300 twice a year for the Hoosier A6's.

      Cheers,

Damnit Carl you and your car's balanced front and rear rubber always gets me drooling at the thought.

Me too. I was very, very, very concerned (did I mentioned I was worried?) since not only is the tire slightly wider, it's also taller due to the basic size, has a much deeper tread / not shaved as much as the 275, and it has a less-rounded outer corner. I have not had it on Angeles Crest yet, so I'll find out soon if there are any major deflection/rubbing problems.

Then again, I'll find out on May 2-3 at SOWS. Yes Mary, I'll be there, the check has already been sent, and the boys have no games that weekend. I'll likely camp out in the truck at the track with you guys starting Fri. night if all goes well.

The rear end has had Ford ends put on, but I believe the overall width is the same. The effective BS is 5-1/2" (wheel is 5-3/4" + 1/4" spacer.) The front is 5-3/4" BS.

When I say the front wheelwell is full, it really is FULL! For example, on the passenger side when turning right, the outside of the tire is within 1/8" of hitting the aft-lower wheelwell. When turning left the outside of the tire is within 1/4" of hitting the front of the wheelwell. Inside of the wheelwell at 12 o'clock (1968) there is a hump on the outboard edge. With -1-1/2* camber it barely clears this bump. The ride height is about 3/8" too low right now, so with an increase in ride height and -1-1/2* static the clearance should be better under bump. I may end up massaging the hump a little bit someday, but if I was building the car again I'd smooth this out before paint.

Tubular arms. There are details on my website.

Have not tried them on a '69. I think Lance-W has them, but not sure.
