Mary Pozzi win's Del Mar GG Autocross

It was a close battle on a very tight course but in the end her excellent driving skills put her on top. She it truly a champion behind the wheel.

I had a great time chasing her and just getting to hang out with all the great people at the show. We all had some really great fun which is what getting out and driving is all about.

      Congrats again Mary.....

Congrats! It would have been fun to see you two battling it out. I'm sure the cars were begging for some rest after that day.

Good job Mary. Always consistantly fast. Also, way to go Mike Maier of Maier Racing for beating everyone there for the overall fast time. I guess Mustangs can go fast when set up right!

I believe thee cars made it into the 29 second range

      Mike Maier at ~29.2
      Mary Pozzi at ~29.5
and Brian Finch at 29.X (don't recall what his 29 second run was).

Congrats to Mary and wow Mike Maier is really fun to watch flog that poor mustang around an autocross course. Would be fun to see what Mary would turn in that car :p

      It was awesome...

The Saturday morning session, Brian and Mary battled and Mary had the slimmest of margins. Can't remember the exact time differences, but it was so close! Great job to both of you...

There was also a truck there, purpose built for autocross - no fenders, no doors, no interior, fast motor and roll bars in the engine compartment. What a killer machine!

Yes, the truck was pretty badass, but it also weighed 500 lbs less than its competition, which brings me to my next point, Mary was able to hang with a trick mustang that weighed 1000 lbs less.

Also Mary, thank you for riding around with me and shouting out orders. In my brief foray into learning how to drive around an autocross, road course, etc, I've ridden with several different professional instructors, and you definitely rank up there with them in terms of instruction and helpfulness while behind the wheel.

If your going to be at the Costa Mesa show next month, please jump behind the wheel. You too David!

A 1000 lbs less? I've seen Maiers Mustang on Scales, that thing is a tick under 3000 lbs. Maybe 2950 ish. Bad Penny can't weight more than 3250-3300 tops?

Both Mary and Mike Maier are National Champs and both can wheel a car! They should swap cars at the next event. Mary drives the Stang, Maier drives whatever Mary's hustle'n around! have a little battle

Look at me offering up cars that don't belong ! hehee

Mary is an incredible driver and drives the wheels off that Camaro.

Just to set the record straight, the Mike Maier Mustang has about only 265 HP and is around 3000 lbs, so maybe 500 - 600 lbs lighter.

      Thanks, Brian ...

You've got an amazing car and drove it very well. That tenth of a second has me getting back into the shop for more Camaro development plus some front end weight spot-reducing (the car, not me ...). Talked with Kyle and he loved your car.

It was so much fun having dinner and just hanging with everyone. Each time we talked about the driving line, it was different as that was the trickiest 30-seconds of course I've ever tried to master. I drove almost every line imagineable and never could get an entire run right.

Hope you made it home safe and hope to see the Tennessee gang later this year.

The Maier Racing Mustang isn't quite that different regarding weight. My Camaro is about 3600 lbs and I think Mike's '66 is around 3100 or so. Still ...
