What a blast! That was a great event. My car did much better than its driver did. I did the autocross mostly in first and second (I was surprised it didn't bounce off the rev limiter); the "speed stop" was a hoot - standing start, accelerate as hard as you can down the track and then brake as late and hard as you can to end up in the stop box without overshooting (I had good speed 88+ mph, but braked too early) and the road course, which I utterly flubbed.

The irony was after beating hard on the car all morning, my cast aluminum power steering pump bracket let go (one of the mounting ears cracked off) about 2 miles from my house. I ended up having to cut the power steering pump belt and alternator/power steering belt off, but was fortunate that the AC belt also drove the water pump. By the way, a "manual" quick ratio steering box with 245-45-17's up front is not fun to drive. I could barely make the sharp and very slow turn into my garage.

If you ever get a chance to do one of the events, run - don't walk - to register.

I had a freakin blast out there today. There was just too much going on at the same time to catch it all. Mary and the OLC were running the autocross while the TCI car was on the Road Course while the DSE cars were doing the brake test. My head was spinning. I have over a gig of media uploading right now.......

Unfortunately this is with a point and shoot camera so the quality is meh.

SORRY Mary!!!!!!!!!! I kept trying to get a good shot of you using every inch of run off but the one time the camera actually focused was the one time you went off.

Talk about fun, even as a spectator! What a greast time out there with some fellow gearheads. There were a few showboats out there, like the Stig, and Kyle Tucker hanging it all out!

Man do I need to get my car set up and compete in the next one!

Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

I've got a couple vids done......Is the embed feature turned on in this section?

      That's a negative......

DSE running the speed stop challenge

TCI running the speed stop challenge
This was almost poetic for Sal.

First pass he was a little timid.
      http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...t=100_0428.flv

second pass he was a little aggressive
      http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...t=100_0429.flv

third pass was........well...........perfect (as I understand it this run put him in the 2nd position for the day) After watching a bunch of cars make pass after pass after pass it was really cool to see Sal find the limits of the car that quickly.

      No..... Never.....

Lies I say! I would never 'correct' my mistakes with over usage of the throttle.

I will however yell at the car repeatedly to "Stick, you Bitch!!!".

Mary's vocabulary rubbed off on me early Friday morning...
