Problem with Marquez Design's SS Emblems

Just wanted to see if anyone else had purchased the billet 'SS' emblems for their camaro through Marquez Designs. I tried to install mine today on my 68 and think that there's a design flaw with it? The two threaded studs provided seem to be sticking out at on angle rather then straight back which makes it impossible to mount. I think that the two threaded bosses on the back of the emblem are on the wrong angle. If anyone else had this problem please let me know. I am going to contact the company Monday since they are closed today.

      Thanks,
      Mark

I don't see anything wrong with asking when the manufacturer is closed. Maybe there is some trick to the install he doesn't know about.

I'm not getting into a pissing match with you over this, I just think that it is better to keep "problems" between the vendor and the customer....period! unless the customer is out right getting screwed.

Lighten up will you!! I'm only asking if anyone on here has had the same problem with this part!! I'm not bashing the manufacturer but this item is not going to work as advertised and I do plan on letting them know this on Monday!!

Yes, the originals had two studs that were molded to the back of the emblem. These two studs stick STRAIGHT through the grill and than through a plate with two holes in it. Two self threading nuts hold the whole thing together from the rear. The emblem from Marquez is a very nice piece but the problem is that the two studs, when threaded into the bosses on the back of the emblem, stick out at an ANGLE and don't fit through the holes in the backing plate. It seems to me that the two threaded bosses on the back of the emblem need to be at a different angle, allowing the studs to stick straight out the back. I will post on here when I get an answer from Marquez as to what the problem is.

If I am hearing this right. Because of the angle you can't get the plate over the two studs. Have you tried putting the studs thru the plate and then screwing them into the emblem ?

The whole problem is with the angle. These studs need to be straight, not at an angle. It wouldn't help by putting the studs through the plate first because they won't screw into the bosses on the back of the emblem at the angle they are currently on.

My thought was if you started them thru the plate first there would still be play in them because they are not threading into anything at that point. Hard to explain but I have had that issue with other stuff and sometimes that is a solution. We need pics.

So Marquez is open today, maybe give them a call to straighten this out (no pun intended)?

looks like the emblem needs to be bent more to make the studs straight. If it was, would it match the angle of your grill better, or does it match the way it is?

looks like the bosses for the studs were reversed. if they were to flip the them the studs would be at the correct angle. looks like a manufacturer boo boo...

It matches the angle of the grill the way it is.

That's exactly what I think the problem is. Will talk to Chris at Marquez today and find out.
