      Corvette Pro-Touring?

New here. Tried the search function, but since a lot of people seem to run vette parts on thier build, it turned up a lot of useless information pertaining to my question:(

      Question?:

      Anyone ever done a C3 (68-72) Corvette Pro-Touring?

      Places for bodies, frames, suspensions?

      Pictures/tech articles?

      TIA

You can do complete replacement frames, or a lot of good bolt on stuff is out there.

LS swaps are fairly painless. C3 LS swaps are pretty well covered on corvette sites like Digital Corvettes or Corvette Forum.

      Thanks.
I'm a member at DC but always hung out in the C4 section.

Was planning on buying a new GS and got to thinking, they all look pretty much cookie cutter nowdays:( That's never been my style.

Started looking and realized the Stingray was the car that from childhood, always turned me on!

Now...to make it fast, comfortable, reliable (even though it won't be a DD) and trackable on the courses.
No reason it can't be done and be set apart from the crowd

      Hey that's pretty cool

Not much of a 1/4 miler any more. Spent too many years teaching tactical (Pursuit) driving. I like the idea of turning corners at speed;)
Definately a wild looking ride though!

I've had Camaros, Super Bees, and other stuff over the years, including an 87 vette (also lowered and "tightened up.")

Always thought I'd go "forward" with my next car.

Sometimes, you have to go backward to move ahead

A combination of things. First, I had gotten into Jiu Jitsu, got injured pretty bad, so the car sat for a while. Second, I now have a son. I used to be able to head out easily because he was a baby. Now, he and the wifey want to go too. No back seat in that one!!! OOOPs! I keep forgetting to log in under my new name. (BirdsThaWord)

I feel for ya my friend.

I've been in the martial arts since I was about 18, hurt more than once

Kids are grown but not out, but have thier own lives....then wham! Grandaughter-Live aboard type, Issue-1 (lol)

She wants to ride with papa where ever he goes. Sold my last vette and had a 2000 Z28 convertible (again, lowered, 315's GFX, Sway bars, yada yada....and could hold (relatively speaking) 4 people (if 2 were tiny).

Sold that and kept my FJ 62 Landcruiser (no pro-touring that beast!) and she loves it, but I wanted to get back in the street car scene again.
Thought about another 69 Camaro. I had one when the wife & I were dating. Drunk driver took it out on the interstate...I was lucky. So was he...I'd just gotten off duty at the Sheriff's Office and he's lucky I didn't shoot him (lol).

Decided against that for a new Camaro...but still not sold on them and don't want to make payments. Really liked the GS vette, but again, can't justify 50-75k for a car that's going to sit 80-90% of the time!

Got a good line on a 69 vette body (no frame..perfect! and have a friend who I helped out during a divorce who has a storage buikding full of old vettes and parts She's foing to let me cherry pick a bit so.....this ought to be fun.

Wifes not all that into cars, daughter will be married in a couple of years (aleady engaged), and will get to see the g-daughter maybe on the weekends....I'll do a quikie on the build to get it licensed and on the street so she and I can enjoy it, then finish it up so the wife and I can travel the state comfortably in it when I finally retire...again....

Hope your injuries are getting better. Do you still have the vette?

Sounds like you've had some nice cars. No, I sold the Vette. Not enough room in the garage and getting the wife to agree to buying parts for 1 car alone is hard work. LOL!

This guys Vette might give you some ideas. One of the nicest I've seen:
      http://www.mcspeed.homestead.com/
Also, on the Corvette forum, look up a guy with the screen name of Twin Turbo and another by the name of Lasse. They have nice Vette's too. Hope this helps!

Since you are on DC, go into the C3 section and there should be a sticky created by Superpowers covering almost everything you need to know. Basically, between Josh's company and mine we have every part you'd need in order to do an LSx conversion to a C2/3/4. However, if funds allow I would be all over a Street Shop frame. Trey and the guys at Street Shop know their stuff and do great work.

This may be more "street fighter" than pro-touring but with out a doubt worth a look. http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vem...ray/index.html

I don't post or even visit the corvetteforum any more.

Since IB bought it and the mods lost thier freakin' minds, it hasn't been the same :
I'm on DC and a local Florida forum corvetteflorida.com where I act as one of the moderators. Very laid back place with great folks who share an interest in the covette and Florida. Definately no threat to the national forum but you'd of thought so the way the children at CF acted :bsjerk:

I've always been partial to pro-touring cars, even before they were labeled "pro-touring."
Always preferred to have my cars be able to do more than go fast straight

I'll definately be checking out his forum as well as hanging out here.

      Thanks for the link.

Yes sir, that was one part of the motivation for this project.

There's also one I saw in Sarasota the other day. As soon as I get the time to download it off my phone and load it up, I'll post it. Gorgeous car!!

Nice enough that I stopped what I was doing to go back and take pics. And I hardly ever stop when I'm working!! (lol)

Unfortunately, I left CF (or it left me) several years ago, found some better homes, and never looked back...

Thanks for the link and the pics.

I'll definately be checking them out today!
