      GM rear ends???.. suspension??

      This is in regards to my '68 Camaro project...

      Now that I have a grasp on my front end, I wanted to start learning and figuring out what I'm going to do for my rear end setup. What I do know is that I'm going to stick with probably a 12 bolt and leaf springs (unless someone can talk me out of it for something better!!). Keep in mind I am watching my budget.

      Currently have thoughts of a DSE 3" drop leaf setup. What are the best bushings to use? Is poly good or does it bind pretty bad? Will be using Del-a-lum up front. What about traction bars or Control arms for the rear end? Have a race shop close by that I can get a good 12 bolt rear end complete with HD axles (minus the differential) for just over a grand. I think a buddy of mine can get a differential for nothing from where he works.

      Any info is greatly appreciated. Don't worry about spelling things out for my like your trying to teach a 3rd grader... I'm that unfamilier with the rear end! Ha!!

      BuddyP~ your choices are leafs or a link style suspension. Leafs would be cheaper. The DSE ones have the springs biased forward to lessen the need for traction bars. You do not want to use them on a PT car anyway because they bind the leafs. The Del-a-lums are your best bet for the rear bushings as well.

      A grand for just the housing and axles? Is that me or is that sort of spendy? Or am I understanding it incorrectly.

      After seeing the sort of lap times that a well preped leaf sprung 1stgen is capable of I wouldn't even think about a link system. Seriously fast cars run G-mod/ big spring front, leaf spring/ panhard rear set ups.

      Thats two cents.
