      Hard to reach undercoating?

      Guys,

I have 95% of the underbody of my camaro scraped to bare metal. How are you reaching the hard areas? The problem areas for me are beside the trunk pan between the pan and the frame rail and inside the rear lower valance panel (where the tag goes). No room to get a chisel or an angle grinder with a flapper wheel.

      Any suggestions?

      Shannon

Just did the underside of my car. The wire brush in the picture with the bristles pointing staight out work really good for me. Get several of them. They work better when there new. Cheap to. Lowes has them.

When in doubt, burn it off......with the obvious safety accoutrements close by.

I use a heat gun and scaper(sometimes a dull screwdriver!), followed up with rags and lacquer thinner. If my hand will reach!

Which brings up another problem.....how to you coat it once it's clean?
May have to brush some areas and or mop the coating on with a rag or something.

I'm almost there too with my car...I have alot of the bottom already clean, but like you said, there are some areas that are hard to get at.

I've made some headway. One thing that the oven cleaner didn't remove was the original primer or paint in places. Does the bottom need to be completely bare metal? Most of the floor pan is a sanded surface, with a small amount of light surface rust. Now whats better, epoxy primer or POR15? I have both....None of the bottom is new clean metal.

You will need to make sure you wipe it down really good with a degreaser....if you use the POR, use their degreaser/metal prep before applying their coatings.
