I have a stock 8.5" 10 bolt behind my 420hp/480tq 383. It is an open diff, so there isn't much strain on the axles, and I have an automatic, but I've beat on her for 2 years without a hick-up.

I don't know if I would be doing clutch dumps with sticky tires with a stocker though...

had a 475 hp 400 in my TA with a 3.42 10 bolt. I beat the snot out of it for 4 years and sold it for what I paid for it. If you don't use slicks you should be ok. It's when you really hook the tires is when you break stuff.

A friend has a 72 Camaro 3350# with a SB 412, 11:1, solid roller and Brodix Track 1s that scattered a super T10 went to a auto and his 8.5 is going strong after several years of abuse. Stock other than a T/A cover, has 4.11s, 28x10.5 ET Streets and South Side bars.

Which 10 bolt do you have? If it's the 7.5 10 bolt then it will probably break. The 8.2 10 bolt can be built to handle most street abuse. The 8.5 10 bolt can be built pretty strong and will take a car into the 9s if it's built right. Which 10 bolt you have makes a big difference.

Huge difference between a 8.2 from a first gen Camaro and a 8.5 from a 70 up car. Your 8.2 will most likly turn to dust if you ever hook it up, or if it is spinning and suddenly hits. But it should drive aroud just fine. I would run it and save for a Moser.
