New guy here with a split personality Chevelle

      Hi,
I'm new to the pro touring scene, after having spent the last few years playing around with a supercharged intercooled Motec injected 400 cube Shelby Cobra fake.

My new car - a 68 Chevelle - has a bit of an identity crisis. It has 14" wide back rims and an 8-71 blown 496 big block, so it's a pro street car....

But... it has Global West A-Arms and coil overs, plus a Baer Track 13" brake kit at the front and 12" Baer brakes in the rear, with an 18" and 20" wheel combination, so it's a pro touring car...

Anyway, whatever it is, I know that there's so much amazing information that I've found in my short time lurking here that the mods will be ongoing! First thought is to ditch the blower and run twin turbos and keep it all under a cowl hood.

All I need to do is remind myself that all of this information is here for good, and that I don't need to sit in front of the computer for the whole night working my way through the thousands of threads that are of interest to me.

      Here's the car:

Beutiful car. I like the twin turbo plan. New hood and then run some autocross. I wonder how 14" rear rims would or would not help in handling?

Thanks for the comments. Here are a couple more pics.
Back wheel with the Baer brakes and suspension:

Motor - it's a Big Al's 496, really just a mild pump gas blown motor, nothing too radical. You can see the GW A-Arms, Wilwood m/cyl and a few other shiny bits in the pic:

Very nice! Is the green 67(8) truck yours as well? If so, any pics of it?

Car looks great! Love your plans for its future, but looks Killer as is! I saw your car in the background of your Ebay add for your C10. Hint...they look great sitting in your driveway together!

Well spotted. I'm actually the new owner of the Chevelle. The buyer of the truck pulled out of the deal, and it was pretty tempting to buy them as a package deal. Couldn't justify spending that kind of cash though...!!!

kobuzz - the truck is beautiful. Full not and bolt resto. The owner spent about $60K or $70K from memory, and it was going to sell for about $25K with only shakedown miles since completion...

Thanks guys. I obviously put the car on the slow boat, because it STILL hasn't landed. It's supposed to be arriving in 4 days... I'm really keen to remove the carbs and fabricate a much lower profile EFI setup so that I can fit everything under a 4" cowl.

I think the local police would be much more inclined to leave me alone if they can't see shiny bits protruding through the hood!
