      L92 Turbo or Supercharger?

I am deciding between keeping the EFI or just going with a carb and intake set up for simplicity. What are my options for a turbo or supercharger set up? Any way it can be done for under 5-6k? I am looking for around 600 rwhp on pump gas. Can I run it without EFI and have turbos with no engine management?

New to Forced induction so sorry if this seems ignorant.

Also I plan on using an aftermarket cam no matter what path I take, and if I keep it EFI I can install a fast 102mm and 102mm TB if needed to reach that level of power

I like being able to have data on what my engine is doing, so I would spring for EFI. Especially for a blown engine, where having a wideband O2 sensor and EFI truly make it it possible to tune your own car with some patience. The amount you invest in having someone else tune your carb-based blown motor would go a long way towards an EFI setup, plus EFI reacts to changes and upgrades much more readily than a carb.

K well I kind of want to turbo, not constant boost pressure. And I think if I piece it together I can do it for around 7k-8k, which is what a supercharger will run me. But with turbo kit I have more room to expand. I will keep my computer and wiring harness for later. But scrap the intake, tb, injectors, and fuel rails off the L92 as I'll need to upgrade to a fast 102 intake, 102 tb, 60-80# injectors and new fuel rails if I want to get up to 700-800 rwhp with turbos

Where did you get the idea that you have to change the intake and TB for those power numbers? Look around on LS1tech and you'll see plenty of guys running stock ls1, ls6 or ls2 intakes (even some stock truck intakes too) at those power levels. Id definately do 80# injectors and aftermarket rails but theres really no need to spend that much money on the FAST stuff IMO.

Isnt the truck intake meant for low end? So maybe an ls3 intake? The l92 says redline is 5900. If I switch it to carb, and do cam swap, what else to rev higher? I like to be able to rev up to 6500-7k. Maybe new valve springs?

If your changing the cam new springs are a must, Id reccomend getting a good set of pushrods too.

I'm getting a cam from frank that puts it up to 540 hp and it comes with springs. Recommendation of pushrods? Thinking of doing forged pistons and connecting rods also. Suggestions?

hey Scott, look around for someone that has a new rebuilt engine for sale. Lots of people sell them after they finish them due to lack of funds.

I picked up my stroker 408 complete for a good price.

I got a complete L92 w all accessories and comp and wiring harness for $3800. After cam and springs Ill be into it 4500, can't imagine I'd get 540 hp for near $4500 buying a rebuilt 408. How much did you pay? I know I'll end up paying $1685 for a stroker kit to make it 416ci, and then Ill have $6200 into it and about 615hp going off average gains.

Stock rodswith ARP bolts, forged pistons, reasonable cam, go to the turboforumscom look up crutch carbs, they are modded to use and external air pump to open the power valve, you cna tune by vacuum, rpm, or boost.
Turn around a set of appropriate to fit stock headers tie into a pair of GT35 turbos or GT 45s from ebay to start, us MSD LS box and tada your running.
Get a rad/intercooler setup as a chunk if you like spending cash and you have your parts, add in a good wide band and tune for 11.0 to 11.5 on boost AFR and be conservative and find local chassis dyno that will help out.
Quick and fast dont have to cost $10k. go look up The Grenade over on turboforums.com this guy built a 92(?) GTA firebird to run in the 9s in the quarter with a worn out cast crank/cast piston 357sbc and did it with an older TPI setup and Holley Commander 950 computer and adapter harness.
you dont need stroker kits or huge amounts, your forcing in massive amounts of fuel and air. if it lights right your making power and driving.
Cubic brains beat cubic dollars cause you can spend dollars in wrong place and tada no power.
Im planning a long rod 302 chevy with double humps and twin turbos, megasquirt on LT1 intake and my own spin on DIS. older TCI th350 and my Monza figuring 600 ish no issue and nothing special. ALL on low budget.
      good luck
