Need help from the computer gurus.

I used to be able to use the Prnt Scrn key on my work computer to gram the screen image & paste it into Word, Power Point etc. Now I get nothing. I have tried all the Function, Alt, Ctrl & prnt scrn combination & get nothing.

      Any thoughts?

      Thanks

First, check with the helpdesk or your IT security dept. It is possible they pushed a release to disable that function. In certain instances the data you, the end user, are exposed to is considered confidential, proprietary, etc.

If not that, did you try installing an add on screen capture app recently that may have overridden the Print Scrn function? TechSmith apps will do that, a few others too.

Aside from that, I will have to check where the keyboard hotkeys and function controls are setup.

I haven't done helpdesk stuff for years!

What OS are you using. If it's vista, type snip in your desktop search. It'll bring up "snipping tool". Open it. You'll have all the advantages of an applet like "Snag-It" for free.

You can also try "shift-Print Screen" to capture the image, and then "ctr-V" to paste it.

Winver tells me Version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.090804-1435: service pack 2)

I have been messing with it & have got a few images to paste, but it is black & white & very little legible text.

Have you tried "print screen" and then "ctrl + V" in "paint" and then save as a jpg...

Yes, I get either nothing, or garbage. Black and white with text that can barely be read.
